Chase and Status deliver their epic new project ‘RTRN II JUNGLE’.

Engulfed with rattling baselines, hypnotic sub-heavy beats Chase and Status gift us with their monumental fifth album. Just in time for festival season, the project features an assortment of rave inducing tracks that will be blaring through sound systems across the nation.

Chase and Status play an integral role in the drum and bass scene and their music over the years spans across a varied soundscape, effortlessly merging elements of dubstep to baseline to even dancehall, which features heavily on this album. Morphing the genres together into a seamless and unique hybrid their latest project is the brainchild of this sound, which is uniquely classed as their own.

Back in November, the duo gave their fans a taste of what to expect from their album with their sold-out live date, which took place at Printworks. Having reviewed the incredible live show, it built up my expectations for the full album and safe to say it doesn’t disappoint.

Over the last few months, they have teased fans with singles from the album, which includes the aptly named single ‘Heater’, with fiery vocals courtesy of General Levy, the visuals for their bass fuelled delicacy ‘Program’ ft Irah and ‘Retreat2018’ featuring the legend that is Cutty Ranks. A homage to Caribbean music and featuring some of the finest emcees from the islands they deconstruct the sound with electronic beds, reviving the jungle genre led pallet to their tracks.

Steering away from more of their commercial hits the project delves into a niche that explores rave culture and the sounds that create it. Giving a brief introduction into the world of jungle via the intro of ‘Shut Up’ featuring Suku the project immediately introduces the pace of the album and what an introduction or re-introduction (if you are already a fan of the genre) it is. Taking a step away from features they deliver their the more drum and bass centred track ‘Original Business’ and their intensely energetic number ‘Disaster’. If you are looking for more vocal driven tracks they also have you covered, listen to their single ‘Bubble’ featuring New Kidz and ‘Weed & Rum’ with Masicka on the track.

A well rounded project infused with heart and soul of jungle music Chase and Status reignites the sound with their outstanding ‘RTRN II JUNGLE’.
